2025 Audition Information& Materials

When?
Auditions will be held at Pruis Hall on Wednesday, August 27th.
Registration starts at 7 PM, and auditions will begin at 7:15 PM.

​What Should I Expect At Auditions?
1) When you arrive at Pruis Hall, check in with the Board members at the front table by the door. They will double-check that you have completed all of the audition forms (click to access) and will then send you into the auditorium.​ Auditions are open, so feel free to clap and cheer on all the auditioners!
​
2) Once auditions begin, each principal role will be auditioned one at a time. (For example, all auditionees for Brad will audition one right after the other.) Transylvanian auditions will be completed in small groups.
​
3) After you have auditioned for your role(s), you are good to go! The cast list will be posted no later than 10 PM on Thursday, August 28th, and will be sent to your Ball State email!

General Information!
All roles in our cast are gender-bent, meaning you can audition for ANY role(s) you desire! Auditionees can audition for up to three roles throughout the audition process. Please look below for each role, character description, and video links to practice with. Your audition will be critiqued based on characterization, film-accurate movements, facial expressions, and lip syncing.​​​​​

Audition Materials!
Trixie and Roxy
(Beginning-:55)
Trixie and Roxy are two characters that were created specifically for the Shadow Cast of the film. Their personalities differ completely. Trixie is the more level-headed, older sister who is there to help tell the story and support the other characters in the show. Roxy is the goofy, unfocused one who, unintentionally, seems to be trying to derail the show and mess up Trixie’s work.
The video shows the opening number, Science Fiction. We ask that you prepare some light choreography based off of the character descriptions given above. It can be anything you like just make sure that you know the lyrics.

Dancing Transylvanians
(2:30-3:00)
The chorus of the show-- the Transylvanians are the whimsical attendees of the Master's affairs (as Riff would put it). For the audition, you will dance in groups of 2-3. Choreography doesn't need to be perfect, and add your own spin! What we are looking for is your ability to keep time and a good stage presence.​
Featured Dancers & Dance Captains
Apart of the Transylvanian chorus, Featured Dancers will have soloist and small group opportunities during choreography numbers, while Dance Captains will be tasked with helping rehearse choreography with the other Transylvanians while the choreographer is not present. For the audition, you will dance in groups of 2-3. Your stage presence, ability to keep time, and accurateness of the choreography is what we are looking for.
Brad Majors
(Beginning-1:00)
Brad Majors is an all-American, conservative man who stumbles upon the Frankenstein Place.​ Actor must be comfortable wearing lingerie, being on-stage in underwear, and engaging in suggestive scenes.

Janet Weiss
(Beginning-1:05)
Janet represents the classical, conservative views of America, until she reaches her sexual awakening during her night at Dr. Frank-N- Furter. ​Actor be comfortable wearing lingerie, being on-stage in underwear, and engaging in suggestive scenes.​​​
​
The Criminologist
(:05-END)
The narrator of the show, who describes the events of Brad and Janet and their night in the Frankenstein place. Actor be comfortable wearing lingerie and engaging in suggestive scenes.

Riff Raff
(Beginning-:45)
The hunchback servant of Dr. Frank-N-Furter.​
​​
Magenta
(1:27-2:02)
Another one of Frank’s Servants who comes to earth from Transylvania with her brother Riff Raff.​ Actor must be comfortable wearing lingerie.​
​​
Columbia
(2:11-2:31)
A groupie who is both Frank’s and Eddie’s girlfriend, lives in the Frankenstein place and has both a big personality with large sexual tendencies.​ Dance and tap experience is preferred, but not required. Actor must be comfortable wearing lingerie.

Dr. Frank-N-Furter
(:04-1:55)
The leading lady himself, is a mad scientist whose main goal is to be able to create the perfect man.​ Must be comfortable wearing lingerie and high heels for the majority of the show, and engaging in suggestive scenes.

Rocky
(:40-1:12)
Frank’s creation who is a blonde adonis. Throughout his short life span, he experiences some disturbing and exciting events.​ Must be comfortable wearing golden underwear/briefs, lingerie, and engaging in suggestive scenes.

Eddie
(:18-1:00)
A biker who gets involved with Frank and eventually Columbia. He is rough and tough, even with only half a brain.

Dr. Scott
(Beginning-1:12)
Brad and Janet’s German science professor who also happens to be Eddy’s uncle.

​How Can I Get Involved with Crew?
Thank you for your interest in Crew! Fill out the Google Form, and then you will receive a follow-up email with specific details in early September. Whether you are auditioning or interested in Crew, you are more than welcome to come to auditions and cheer everyone on!
