Audition Do's & Don'ts

Do's

  • Memorize lines/lyrics for your characters

  • Film accurate movements

  • Show us your personality. BE YOURSELF!!

  • Watch the movie! (not required, but heavily encouraged)

  • Ask questions! We often have returning members who have auditioned before and can help answer questions you may have

  • Take your time and enjoy it! Auditions can be stressful, so remember to take a deep breath and keep going

  • If you mess up, keep going. Mistakes are made all the time, and there's nothing wrong with it! We look for how you recover from mistakes!

  • Dress up! Plenty of auditioners dress up for a role they're auditioning for, or just dress up in general, and we love to see the outfits

  • Rehearse in the outfit you are going to audition in! It's so important that you know how to move in the clothes and shoes you plan to wear to audition in

  • Cheer others on! Auditioning, again, is a super scary experience. Applauding others and cheering them on helps people feel more confident in their performance and comfortable

  • HAVE FUN!

Don'ts

  • Be distracting. This can make it hard not only for those auditioning, but also for those around you who are either trying to prepare for their audition or support the person auditioning

  • Freak out! Even returning members get nervous when they audition, but we promise everything will be okay!

  • Wear shoes you can't comfortably walk/perform in. Most songs require a lot of movement, so please be safe and comfortable

  • Talk about others audition in a negative light. In Rocky, it is so important that we all are supportive of each other, and negative behavior is not tolerated

  • Give up. We're only humans, and humans make mistakes. Don't let this break your spirit, because we still want to see you despite anything that may go wrong
